The Dallas Mavericks have been riding their stars hard in the postseason. In the three games they’ve played against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the second round, Kyrie Irving has averaged no less than 39.9 minutes per game as the Mavs fight to book their place in the Western Conference Finals.

For his part, however, Irving isn’t complaining.

Knicks Star Josh Hart’s ‘Tremendous’ Quote

Another guy who has been logging some extremely heavy minutes in the playoffs is Josh Hart of the New York Knicks. In fact, Hart has been on the bench for a total of just five minutes in the Knicks’ first three games of their second-round series against the Indiana Pacers.

Hart was recently asked about being fatigued, which prompted an epic response from the 6-foot-4 forward:

“Our job’s to play basketball. You got people getting up at 6AM doing 12-hour shifts. Those guys are tired,” he said. “… We’re fortunate enough to play a game…that we love…We have to keep that in perspective [& be] full of energy every time we step on the court”

Josh Hart isn't using fatigue as an excuse for the Knicks' loss tonight:

Hart’s comments have taken a life of its own, and Kyrie has definitely taken notice. As a matter of fact, the Mavs superstar turned to Hart’s statement when talking about his own workload in the postseason:

“I think Josh Hart had a tremendous quote where he talked about people having 12 hour shifts and we get to play a game that we love,” Irving said. “… That is the nail right on the head for a lot of us.”

Irving is one of the largest-earning stars in the NBA today and while he has acknowledged the fact that the postseason has been demanding, he’s also made it abundantly clear that playing basketball is nothing compared to the hardships typical Americans have to endure every single day.
