The Dallas Mavericks are in trouble. The 2024 NBA Finals is far from over, but their backs are pressed harder against the wall after suffering a 105-98 defeat to the Boston Celtics in Game 2 of the finals on Sunday night in Beantown.

A reason why the Mavericks are still winless in the Celtics series is the struggles of Kyrie Irving on offense. Playing in front of a hostile crowd that used to love him when he was still with Boston, Irving averaged just 14.0 points on a salty 35.1 field goal percentage in Games 1 and 2.

In Game 2, Irving needed 18 field goal attempts to finish with 16 points. That performance has led to some brutal clowning and criticisms from fans online.

Here are some of the takes:

“Words cannot express how disappointed I am with Kyrie so far. I thought this was going to be HIS series and HIS moment with Luka. To this point, it’s been Luka. And just Luka.”

Luka Doncic “I have a 30 point triple double I need your help!!”

“Best player in the finals goes Luka then probably 6 Celtics players in a row before u get to another Mav and I don’t even think that Mav is Kyrie”

“Nobody saw it but Luka was the one that started that Kyrie Sucks chant”

“For a superstar, Kyrie gets away with having this kind of game a whole lot, huh”

“in a “bad” game Tatum nearly got a triple double and still scored more points than Kyrie”

“Kyrie Irving is gonna tweet, “Hélà🤞🏽 Stay strong tribe.”Make a shot, man. YOU, stay strong.”

“i wonder if kyrie will admit he’s getting absolutely locked the fck up in the presser. we don’t wanna hear about how you at peace in life rn buddy. why do you have s**t running down your leg”
