At first, the trade that sent All-Star shooter Klay Thompson was between the Dallas Mavericks and the Golden State Warriors. Just recently, thought, more teams were added to the deal, making more than what it initially was.
Just last week, Thompson agreed to join the Mavericks on a three-year, $50 million contract. This move was previously a sign-and-trade deal between Dallas, Golden State, and the Charlotte Hornets.

After spending the entirety of his 13-year NBA career with the Warriors, including four championship runs, Thompson is now set to team up with superstars Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving in Dallas. The Warriors had reportedly offered Thompson a two-year, $48 million contract last offseason, but he rejected that offer as they began to rely more on rookie shooting guard Brandin Podziemski.
Before the previous deal was modified, the sign-and-trade saw Warriors receive two second-round picks, while the Hornets got Josh Green. The departure of Thompson marked the end of one of the NBA’s most successful Big Three partnerships in recent memory as only All-Star guard Stephen Curry and forward Draymond Green have remained in Golden State.
Dallas Mavericks Acquire Klay Thompson in Historic Six-Team Deal

As it stands, the previous deal has been modified to include other teams. In a tweet by the Mavs’ official account on X, it has been revealed the Minnesota Timberwolves, Denver Nuggets, and Philadelphia 76ers have been added as well.
The Dallas Mavericks announced today that they have acquired 5-time All-Star Klay Thompson and a future 2nd-round pick as part of a six-team sign-and-trade deal in exchange for Josh Green and a future 2nd-round pick.

The deal sent Thompson to Dallas while the Warriors acquired Buddy Hield and Kyle Anderson. The Hornets received Josh Green, Reggie Jackson, and two second-round picks, while the Timberwolves gained a second-round pick and a pick swap. The Sixers got a second-round pick for Hield, and the Nuggets received cash.

This deal just made NBA history as the only deal that involved six teams all at once. Hopefully, Thompson and the other players who have been moved will find a better situation than where they were last season.
