For as long as anyone can remember, superstar Kyrie Irving has been a magnet for various issues and controversies. Turns out, though, the Dallas Mavericks guard dodged a bullet by dropping the perfect response to a trap question laid out before him.
Irving was selected first overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2011 NBA Draft after playing one year of college basketball at Duke. He was named the Rookie of the Year in 2012 after a strong debut season. Over the next few years, Irving became an eight-time All-Star, making his first appearance in 2013. In 2014, he was named the All-Star Game MVP.

Irving was a key member of the Cavaliers’ Big Three, along with four-time MVP LeBron James and and current Miami Heat forward Kevin Love. In 2016, he hit the game-winning shot in Game 7 of the NBA Finals, helping the Cavs win their first championship. The following season, Irving requested a trade and was sent to the Boston Celtics.
After two seasons in Boston, Irving joined the Brooklyn Nets in 2019. He had his best statistical season in 2020-21, joining the prestigious 50-40-90 club. However, his tenure in Brooklyn was tumultuous, and he was traded to the Dallas Mavericks in 2023. He then helped Luka Doncic and company reach the NBA Finals, but lost to Jayson Tatum and the Celtics in the Finals.

Irving’s wife, Marlene Wilkerson, is a social media influencer and entrepreneur. Born in Los Angeles, Wilkerson has a degree in business marketing and started an online clothing shop called The Fine Guru. The couple has kept their relationship private, but Wilkerson has opened up about their life together, including welcoming two children.

While other NBA stars wouldn’t hesitate to throw out names, the Dallas superstar gave an answer that has won more people to his side. This moment just made Irving more of a legend than he already is.
