Kyrie Irving is a man on a mission. He and the Dallas Mavericks are just four wins away from becoming NBA champions again. The Mavericks last won an NBA title in 2011, while Irving got his first ring alongside LeBron James when the two led the Cleveland Cavaliers to a memorable and stunning takedown of the Golden State Warriors back in the 2016 NBA Finals.
Dallas Mavericks’ Kyrie Irving thankful for Cavs experience

Irving hasn’t forgotten his time with the Cavs, of course, particularly that incredible 2016 playoff run. The postseason experience together with James sharpened Irving, the Mavs’ talented guard said recently (h/t Chicco Nacion of The Score).
“I just think back to just us having those moments where we’re down in a series or up in a series, and we’re really demanding greatness from each other,” Irving told reporters Wednesday, adding, “Definitely think about those times.
But now we’re here in the present, where we’re able to reflect. But also, now I’m at this stage and able to use some of the formulas that I was taught from him, and some of the great teachers that have come before me.
“I feel like I’ve been built for this moment because I’ve gone through some of the things I’ve gone through in my past with some of the guys that have transcended the game.”
Without a doubt, Irving is going to play a huge role for the Mavericks in the 2024 NBA Finals against another former team, the Boston Celtics. Just like his days with the Cavs, Irving is widely considered the Dallas’ version of Robin to Batman, this time with Doncic as the alpha.
