The Dallas Mavericks blew out the Los Angeles Lakers 118-97 without shooting guard Kyrie Irving, point guard Luka Doncic, and center Daniel Gafford. The supporting players came out big, building a strong lead and holding onto it with defense.
Dallas shot 18/38 from three (47.4%) as a team. The Mavs manage to end their five-game losing streak against a Lakers team that, really, should have won no matter what with all the absences of their opponent.
Grimes performance against the Lakers
Mavericks shooting guard Quentin Grimes finished with 23 points, nine rebounds, and six assists off the bench. His first 20/5/5 game as a Mav.
Grimes has had six assists in each of his last two games. No Kyrie or Luka, Grimes has been great in his new role.
Quentin’s role on the Mavs
Over his last 20 games, Quentin Grimes is averaging 13.6 PPG on 47 FG%, 4.9 RPG, and 2.6 APG. He is starting to emerge as a key player for the shorthanded Mavs, showing his scoring and defensive abilities.
He is a utility role player. It’s nice to see him finding form this season after a tough 2023-24.
