The Dallas Mavericks are determined to bounce back stronger after losing to the Boston Celtics in the 2024 NBA Finals. With Luka Doncic very much in his prime and Kyrie Irving still among the elites in the league plus the addition of Klay Thompson, the Mavs seem to have the triumvirate to make the team more dangerous in the next season.
Meanwhile, Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report has another idea that will put Dallas in a much more promising position to win the franchise’s first title since 2011.
Trade scenario gives the Dallas Mavericks a huge boost

In the trade scenario presented by Swartz, the Mavericks will get New York Knicks power forward Julius Randle in exchange for PJ Washington, Daniel Gafford, Jaden Hardy, and a couple of second-round picks in 2025 and 2028.

That is quite a lot of assets to give up by the Mavericks for just one player but none of those should hurt Dallas, especially considering the return they’re getting, as Randle is a three-time NBA All-Star, who is also just about to turn 30 years old this coming November.
If the Knicks feel like they can’t afford Randle moving forward, or are more comfortable playing smaller and getting Hart in the starting lineup, the Dallas Mavericks would be the ideal new home.
A starting five of Luka Dončić, Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, Randle and Dereck Lively II would be the most talented team the Mavs have had since 2010-11, and they’d still have a bench of Maxi Kleber, Naji Marshall, Quentin Grimes, Olivier-Maxence Prosper, Dante Exum, Dwight Powell and others.
Last season, the former Kentucky Wildcats star averaged 24.0 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game.
The 2024 NBA offseason has been a huge one for the Knicks as well. They have made numerous headlines with splashy moves like signing OG Anunboyand Jalen Brunson to contracts and acquiring Mikal Bridges from the Brooklyn Nets in a blockbuster trade.
