It’s not an exaggeration to say that the Dallas Mavericks are having one of their most terrible seasons in recent memory.
Not only do the fans have to deal with the truth that Luka Doncic is playing with another jersey on, but Jason Kidd’s team is riddled with so many injuries that rumors of game forfeitures were a valid talking point in Mavs circles for a good while.

While some Mavs fans are still struggling with everything that transpired over the past month, a recent development may have been a reminder for them that time waits for no one and they must move on with their lives.
Tim Hardaway Jr. received a video tribute from the Dallas Mavericks

Tim Hardaway Jr. may not be the most important player on the Mavs roster last year, but he was an instrumental piece during Luka’s stint with the team. The man who was an add-on to the Kristaps Porzingis trade became one of the Slovenian star’s most important teammates before he eventually left for the Detroit Pistons in the 2024 offseason.
The Mavs gave Hardaway Jr. a fitting tribute for his contribution to the Mavs, as reported by Sports Illustrated’s Austin Veazev:
In Hardaway’s return, the Mavericks gifted him with a tribute video during the first timeout of the first quarter. He spent five and half seasons with the Mavs after coming in from the New York Knicks during the Kristaps Porzingis trade and ended up playing 218 more games in Dallas than Porzingis.
Hardaway Jr. had to cut his return game short as he rolled his ankle in the second quarter. The Mavs picked up a rare win, counting on P.J. Washington and Klay Thompson to win 117-123.
Will Luka Doncic get a video tribute from the Mavs?

Given how fractured the relationship between Doncic and the Mavs front office have been, it would have been fair to think that the team wouldn’t be giving the man who brought them to the 2024 NBA Finals a video tribute.
However, Bleacher Report’s Adam Wells confirmed that the Mavs will give Doncic a video tribute when he makes his American Airlines Center return on April 9.
Whether they push through with it after all the bad blood that developed between the two sides remains a question that will only be answered on the night itself.
