Dan Hurley, head coach of the UConn Huskies men’s basketball team, was over the moon with happiness and pride as the women’s team lifted the NCAA trophy on Sunday. Over the weekend, the UConn Huskies locked horns with the South Carolina Gamecocks for the NCAA championship and won.
The UConn Huskies won the game with a final score of 82-59, after Sarah Strong and Azzi Fudd each chalked up 24 points for the team. UConn’s superstar Paige Bueckers etched another 17 points for the team in the winning game.
“@UConnWBB 12 Time National Champions!! Undeniably the Basketball Capital of the World…Storrs, Connecticut,” Dan Hurley tweeted from his X account about the UConn Huskies winning the NCAA championship for the first time since 2016.
The UConn Huskies entered the final game after defeating the UCLA Bruins in the Final Four round. Meanwhile, the South Carolina Gamecocks, who had a pretty awesome season as well, came here after crushing the Texas Longhorns.
Despite having a number of talented players in their squad, Dan Hurley’s UConn Huskies could not make it past the second round of the NCAA tournament. In the second round, Hurley’s team was paired with the Florida Gators and lost the game with a close score of 77-75. Ultimately, the UConn Huskies finished fourth in the Big East with a 14-6 conference score and 24-11 overall in this NCAA season.

Dan Hurley Reacts To Florida And Auburn Coaches Yelling At Officials
On another note, UConn Huskies head coach, Dan Hurley, seemed to poke fun at himself and the situation when the coaches of the Florida Gators and the Auburn Tigers were seen yelling at match officials during the Final Four game on Sunday.

The Auburn Tigers and the Florida Gators played against each other in the Final Four round of the March Madness tournament, with Florida eventually emerging as winners with a 79-73 final score. Florida’s Walter Clayton Jr. was the lead scorer with 34 points on the scoreboard, along with four boards and a pair of helpers. Alijah Martina and Thomas Haugh scored 17 points and 12 points, respectively, for the team.
“Both coaches have shared a lot of words with the officials in this game that are not safe for television” Reporter John Fanta tweeted through his X account.
“No way…What a disgrace!” Dan Hurley responded to John Fanta’s tweet sarcastically.

Hurley is of course, known for raising hell with match officials frequently. In the second round of the NCAA tournament, when his UConn Huskies were kicked out, Hurley had a heated exchange with game officials and then stormed off in a huff.
