Dawn Staley, who is the head coach of the South Carolina Gamecocks women’s basketball team, is leaving the year 2024 with gratitude, and entering 2025 with a resolution to ‘give more than take’ as per her year-end post on X. Staley has been coaching the team since 2008 and under her leadership, the team is currently eighth in the Southeastern Table.
The team has a decent 12-1 overall score as of now and last played the Wofford Terriers. In that game, the Gamecocks won with a final score of 93-47 after Joyce Edwards led the team on the scoreboard with 16 points, grabbing four rebounds and assisting thrice. Tessa Johnson was the second-highest scorer for the team with 14 points, while Raven Johnson put up 13 points.
“Thank you God for being the provider of all things. 2024 owes me nothing! Let’s give more than take in 2025. Happiest, healthiest, loveliest and godliest New Year!” Dawn Staley posted on her X account.
Apart from college basketball, Staley was also responsible for putting the USA Olympics team together, which won their eighth gold medal in a row. In this season, Staley has been confident that the team is its best version in a long time. At the same time, Staley has also felt that the team needs to massively improve in taking ‘good shots’.
Dawn Staley Offers Support To Shane Beamer After Illinois’ Bret Bielema Taunts Him
Shane Beamer was recently at the receiving end of a taunt by Illinois Fighting Illini coach, Bret Bielema after the South Carolina Gamecocks men’s football team lost to them. On Monday, the two teams faced each other with Illinois winning against South Carolina with a final score of 21-17. Bielema appeared to make fun of Beamer while the game was in play, and this was of course not taken too well.
Beamer was furious and had to be physically restrained before the game could continue. Dawn Staley, who is a big football fan herself, came out in support of Coach Shane Beamer and took to X to remark how proud she is of him and the team.
Meanwhile, Coach Beamer addressed the issue firsthand and pointed out that he certainly did not like Bielema’s rude gesture during the game. Dawn Staley has not only supported the South Carolina Gamecocks men’s football team, her team’s counterpart but is also a huge fan of the NFL team, Philadelphia Eagles.
