Aaron Gordon had a roller-coaster season with the Denver Nuggets. Despite performing well in the postseason, his team was sent packing by the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 7 of the second round.
With the Nuggets losing in a tight contest, the team will be looking for ways to improve their roster. Multiple rumors about bombastic trades are already floating around, but we wouldn’t know what the Nuggets will actually do until the offseason begins in earnest.
While the Nuggets are looking to retool their roster, Gordon will be spending time with his family. His older brother, who have several NBA games under his belt, was lost in a tragic accident just recently.
Drew Gordon, Aaron Gordon’s brother, passes away
Drew Gordon was an older brother of Aaron who managed to make the NBA. He played nine games for the Philadelphia 76ers during the 2014-15 season, where he averaged 1.9 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 0.2 assists across nine games.
He wasn’t able to stick to the NBA and had to make do with playing abroad. Basketnews.com wrote about his untimely passing as well as his professional career that took him across the world:
Former NBA player Drew Gordon, the older brother of the Denver Nuggets forward Aaron Gordon, has died in a car accident in Portland.
Drew Gordon was 33 years old. He is survived by his wife, Angela, and three children.
A native of San Jose, California, Gordon’s pro basketball journey also included stops in the G League, Serbia, Sardinia, Turkey, France, Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine, and three different teams in Russia.
Everyone at Hardwood Heroics extend their most sincere condolences to Gordon and his family for their loss.
WIll the Denver Nuggets make it back to the top next season?
The loss of his brother will motivate Aaron Gordon to play even better for the Nuggets. However, he’s only a small piece of the puzzle that the Nuggets must fully address.
Gordon has played great basketball this season, averaging 13.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.5 rebounds a game. He fared slightly better in the playoffs with averages of 14.3 points, 7.3 boards, and 4.4 assists. He’ll be a key cog for the Nuggets’ efforts next year, and they hope he’ll perform better.
