The Denver Nuggets have all but secured their postseason berth. However, the remainder of the games they have on schedule will determine whether they will have homecourt advantage during the first round or play without homecourt support.
With this in mind, their performance against the Golden State Warriors was disappointing. They failed to stop Stephen Curry from shooting the lights out of the Chase Center. Jimmy Butler took a bit of a backseat on the game as Brandin Podziemski was on fire for the Dubs.

It wasn’t like the Nuggets let the Warriors walk all over them during their 104-118 loss. The Nuggets weren’t playing at full strength as Jamal Murray had to sit out due to inflammation on his right hamstring. Michael Porter Jr. and Christian Braum did everything to support Nikola Jokic, but the Serbian just didn’t have enough reinforcements to help him get the W.
A small silver lining that fans can get out of the loss was how Jokic had a historic night despite the loss.
Nikola Jokic makes NBA history despite failing to lift the Denver Nuggets past the Warriors

Sports Illustrated’s Logan Struck reported that Jokic’s stat line was significant and efficient enough to warrant a historic first in league history:
In Friday’s loss, Jokic had another MVP-caliber performance. The three-time NBA MVP dropped 33 points, 12 rebounds, 9 assists, and 2 steals on 13-17 shooting from the field and 4-7 from three-point range, becoming the first player in NBA history to reach these numbers in a game, per Stathead.
Everyone knows how the three-time MVP has been playing some of the most exciting basketball people have seen. Him being among the favorites to win a tight 2025 MVP race against Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

While he’s tipped to finish as one of the MVP favorites, their odds as the team who will likely make the NBA Finals is tight. With the number of outstanding teams out West, the Nuggets need to reinforce Jokic with solid basketball play sooner rather than later.
