The Denver Nuggets still can’t solve Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves. On Wednesday, Nikola Jokic and company fell prey to the Timberwolves in a 115-95 loss at Ball Arena in Denver — their third in the 2024-25 NBA regular season.
That was also the Nuggets’ fifth consecutive defeat at the hands of Minnesota, dating back to the 2024 NBA Playoffs.
It can be recalled that the Timberwolves were the ones who dethroned the then-reigning NBA champions Nuggets in 2024, outlasting Denver in a playoff series that went the full distance of seven games.
In the latest meeting between these teams, Edwards led the Timberwolves with 29 points and five 3-pointers on 10-for-22 shooting from the field. Julius Randle, who was a new addition this season by Minnesota, had 25 points, while Jaden McDaniels provided 16.
After the game, Jokic acknowledged the continued dominance of his team by Minnesota.
“All the five, they beat us pretty easy,” the three-time NBA Most Valuable Player said in the postgame press conference (h/t DNVR Nuggets). “We need to be better. We need to do a better job. I don’t know what.”
Nikola Jokic didn’t get enough help in Denver Nuggets’ loss to T’wolves

The Nuggets’ offense struggled versus Minnesota. Jokic had 34 points on 13-for-23 shooting and Russell Westbrook went 8-for-12 for 19 points, but the other three starters combined for only 10-for-35 from the field.
As a team, the Nuggets recorded just a 40.4 percent shooting from the floor and were 7-for-30 from behind the arc. Denver might have been too dependent in that contest on the Serbian, who still needs his teammates to step up.
The loss to the Timberwolves hurt Denver’s chances in the race for at least the No. 2 spot in the Western Conference. The Nuggets are currently sharing an identical 42-24 record with the Memphis Grizzlies, but Ja Morant & Co. have the edge in the tiebreakers at the moment.
Denver’s next assignment will be against the Los Angeles Lakers at home on Friday.
