Aaron Gordon has been an integral piece for the Denver Nuggets in their title defense this season. The 28-year-old has been a glue guy for the Nuggets, and what he brings to the table for his squad is something that is beyond measure.
Despite the key role he plays on the team, however, Gordon actually hasn’t been allowed to attend team-only dinners throughout their second-round series against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Denver Nuggets News: Aaron Gordon Not Attending Team Dinners

It’s not that Gordon is disliked by his teammates. As far as we know, he also has no known issues about being a pleasant dinner companion. The problem, apparently, has a lot to do with superstition.
As it turns out, Gordon inadvertently missed the team dinner following their Game 2 home loss to Minnesota. According to Sam Amick of The Athletic, the veteran has since been asked to skip these team dinners:
“He was the only player who didn’t make it to the dinner in Minneapolis on Thursday night when the Nuggets’ title defense was on the brink after those disastrous first two games against Minnesota. The gathering was just what they all needed to brighten the darkest of moods,” Amick wrote.

Apparently, the Nuggets are a pretty superstitious bunch, and they feel that Gordon’s absence in the team dinners was integral to the squad winning three straight games to take a 3-2 series advantage over the Wolves.
Minnesota Dominates Game 6

This all changed on Thursday night, though, as the Wolves completely destroyed the defending champs in Game 6, 115-70. It was a brutal loss for the Nuggets, who on the bright side, will now need to go home to Denver to battle Minnesota in a do-or-die Game 7 matchup.
Now that the curse has been broken, I guess Gordon can expect an invite to their post-Game 6 dinner. I’m just not sure if the players will be in a very good mood after they were so utterly humiliated by their opponents on Thursday night.
