Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone was in an understandably foul mood in his post-game press conference on Sunday night after watching his team blow a 20-point lead in Game 7 of their second-round matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
However, as he made it abundantly clear, it’s not the massive comeback by the Wolves that’s getting to him right now. Rather, it’s the fact that the season is now officially over for the Nuggets after suffering a heartbreaking 98-90 loss against the Wolves.
Denver Nuggets News: Michael Malone Rips Into Reporter’s Question
As he was speaking to the press during his mandatory post-game interview, the NBA champion coach snapped at a reporter who asked him about how hard it is to absorb such a brutal loss after going up by as many as 20 points. Malone did not like the question one bit:
“The season’s over, that’s what’s hard,” he said. “F**k being up by 20. The season’s over. You don’t understand that … Stupid a** questions.”

To be honest, that’s a perfectly valid question from the reporter — or at least I think so. He was merely asking the coach to expound on giving up such a significant lead in a game of this magnitude. This is understandably difficult to face for Malone at this point in time, but I don’t think there’s anything wrong about the question.
Either way, Coach Malone will need to deal with more than a few more difficult questions down the road. Let’s just hope he’ll be in a better mood.
