The Denver Nuggets finally got their man. After weeks of rumors linking the former league MVP to a move to Denver, the Nuggets got their wish after the Los Angeles Clippers agreed to trade Russell Westbrook to the Utah Jazz, who in turn, will be waiving his contract.
Westbrook will reportedly sign with the Nuggets once he clears waivers as he looks to link up with Nikola Jokic and the 2023 NBA champs.
Denver Nuggets News: Zach Lowe Slams Russell Westbrook Acquisition
Not everyone believes this is a great pickup by Denver, though.
One man who is adamant that the Nuggets made a mistake by acquiring Westbrook is ESPN’s NBA insider Zach Lowe. The renowned basketball analyst did not hold back in sharing his brutally honest opinion on the deal during Thursday’s episode of NBA Today.
“This is just a why-not signing for the Nuggets,” Lowe said. “… They’re searching for an identity on their bench. And the identity can be, go go go chaos, Russell Westbrook basketball… They don’t really need him.”

To say that Lowe does not believe that Westbrook will be a good fit in Denver is an understatement.
To be fair, Nuggets cornerstone superstar Nikola Jokic reportedly pushed for this move. If he wanted Westbrook on his team, then it’s only right that the front office do whatever they can to make it happen.
Whether or not this decision will pay off for Denver, however, is an altogether different matter.
