Despite achieving a lot already in his NBA career, Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic maintains a low-key lifestyle compared to his superstar peers who prefer having the limelight.
After playing basketball for the Denver Nuggets or the national team, the reigning NBA MVP would always head straight to his hometown of Sombor to race his horses. Furthermore, it was also reported that Jokic doesn’t have a big house in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia.
In a recent interview with MONDO (translated from Serbian to English), Nikola Jokic’s dad, Branislav, discussed his son’s introverted nature and down-to-earth demeanor.
“Nikola loves the simple things. What more does he need? It’s not like we didn’t have a cottage, horses, and similar things before, what more does he need now? Does he need to go to clubs in Belgrade and be a badass?” Branislav Jokic said about his son.
“That stuff doesn’t interest him, he has music and his favorite tavern where he goes out on Fridays and Saturdays with his childhood friends. He doesn’t hang out with new friends, he has a hard time letting people in his circle, they need to be either from the world of basketball or horse racing, otherwise, it’s extremely difficult,” he added.
Nikola Jokic aims to put the Denver Nuggets back on top
Nikola Jokic is coming off a busy summer, as he guided the Serbian national team to a bronze medal finish in the 2024 Paris Games. He will take some time off before reporting to the Denver Nuggets in preparation for the 2024-25 campaign.
As for the Denver Nuggets, they’ve managed to add Russell Westbrook and Dario Saric via two-year contracts, and they’ve re-signed DeAndre Jordan after losing Reggie Jackson and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to free agency.
The Denver Nuggets failed to defend their NBA championship last season, losing to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference semifinals in seven games.
