Nikola Jokic shocked the world again last night versus the Sacramento Kings. He posted a lethal stat line of 35 points, 22 rebounds and 17 assists in the win.
He is only one of two players to ever accomplish an insane feat of a 35/20/15 stat line, joining the late Wilt Chamberlain.
The Nuggets now sit at the fourth seed in the stacked Western Conference. Once again, they are in contention for another NBA title, and with Jokic playing at MVP-level, it is looking very possible.
Jokic is averaging 30.2 points, 13.4 rebounds and 10.1 assists per game this season. If it wasn’t for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander leading the Oklahoma City Thunder to the first seed in the West, Jokic would be a certain lock to win his fourth MVP award.
Where Does He Rank All Time?
Jokic is already a top five center of all time. Yes, you heard that correctly. His resume is hard to beat, especially with everything he is still currently piling on.
The world has not seen a center have this much impact on the game on basketball in a very long time. Jokic always finds a way to stuff the stat sheet with a vengeance, and opposing teams never have a true answer for him.
His current resume:
- NBA Champion
- NBA Finals MVP
- 3x NBA Most Valuable Player
- 7x NBA All-Star
- 4x All-NBA First Team
- 2x All-NBA Second Team
- NBA All-Rookie First Team
All of this has been accomplished and he’s not even 30-years-old yet. Another All-NBA First Team selection and All-Star appearance are locks for the 2024-25 season as well. Jokic will continue to wreak havoc on the league for the next five years.
Can Denver Get It Done This Year?
The Nuggets have kept themselves in the championship hunt for the last few seasons. All around, the team has found their chemistry throughout this season.
Denver is 8-2 in their last ten games, which is quite impressive. They are creeping up on the doors of the Memphis Grizzlies and Houston Rockets, as they are just two games behind them for the second seed.
As long as Jokic keeps playing at this level, Denver is a team no one wants to face come playoff time. They have a few teams to get through, so it will not be easy.
