On Friday, Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic made history against the Phoenix Suns after he led the team to a 149-141 victory. Jokic recorded the first-ever stat line of 31 points, 21 rebounds and 22 assists. His recent achievement made waves around the league, with players expressing how impressed they are with the three-time MVP. Even former NBA players have changed their opinions on certain topics related to the association because of the big man’s performance.
One of the former players who has changed their stance on a particular event in the league is Lou Williams. In October 2024, Williams went viral for what he said about NBA legend Wilt Chamberlain. According to him, he doesn’t believe the former Los Angeles Lakers star scored 100 points in a single game.
“It’s two Wilt stats I want to take to the competition committee and we gotta audit the files,” Williams said. “It’s two stats he got in his life that I want some proof of. One’s basketball related and one’s not basketball related… Listen, Wilt didn’t get close to 25,000 nothing outside of points and rebounds.”

FanDuel TV’s “Run It Back,” which aired Monday, featured Williams’ thoughts on Jokic’s performance against the Suns. Chandler Parsons, a former NBA player, was the first to praise the Nuggets star’s performance. Then, mentioning the legend’s 100-point game, Parsons mentioned Chamberlain.
“Maybe he did, I’m changing my stance, maybe he did,” Williams said.
Still, Chamberlain’s record of 100 points in a single game remains at the top of the record books. No one has come close to breaking the record of the 7-foot-1 star. The second-highest scoring in a single game was 81 points, which was done by the late Kobe Bryant against the Toronto Raptors in January 2006.
Kevin Durant called the Denver Nuggets star an all-time great after his performance

In their game against each other, Kevin Durant tried his best to give his team the win. The 6-foot-11 forward had 29 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Unfortunately for the Suns, they couldn’t handle what the Denver Nuggets star did to their team.
After the game, Durant was asked about his thoughts on Jokic and his historic performance. According to the two-time champion, he was surprised that the Serbian center hadn’t achieved the feat in his career before calling him an all-time great.
“The whole offense is centered around him making a play. I’m actually kind of surprised he hasn’t done this before… All-time great, man. All-time great,” Durant said.
This season, Jokic is averaging 28.8 points, 12.9 rebounds and 10.9 assists, making him one of the top candidates to win the MVP award.
