After winning their first NBA title in franchise history in 2022-23, the Denver Nuggets are coming off a lackluster 2023-24 campaign since they bowed out of the Western Conference semifinals, and they have had an uneventful summer so far.
The Denver Nuggets lost Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Reggie Jackson to the Orlando Magic and Charlotte Hornets, respectively. To add to their woes, their first-round pick of this summer’s NBA Draft, DaRon Holmes II, tore his Achilles tendon right before he even got to play his first-ever official NBA game.
They were able to re-sign DeAndre Jordan and acquired Dario Saric and Russell Westbrook to separate deals in free agency, but those moves don’t exactly move the needle as far as their title chances next year are concerned.
Because of this, the Denver Nuggets will be looking to strengthen their roster in the build-up to next season, and renowned NBA insider Marc Stein recently revealed their next target in his latest column.
Denver Nuggets reportedly targeting Vasilije Micic via trade
The Denver Nuggets are reportedly looking to bolster their backcourt depth by trading for Vasilije Micic, who had a solid stretch of games toward the end of last season when he was starting for the Charlott Hornets.
The 30-year-old averaged 10.8 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 6.2 assists in 30 regular season games (21 starts) last season as LaMelo Ball’s backup, and he just won his first Olympic bronze medal during the Paris Games for the Serbian national team.
Micic’s future with Charlotte is uncertain since LaMelo Ball is expected to return from his ankle injury. If the Charlotte Hornets somehow turn him loose, expect the Denver Nuggets to at least consider swooping him up on a cheap contract.
