Russell Wilson is still in the Association playing for the Denver Nuggets, but it is safe to say that his best individual years in the NBA were when he was still with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
He played his first 11 seasons in the NBA with the Thunder, and it was with OKC that he became the league’s Most Valuable Player in the 2016-17 campaign. Oklahoma City is a place that remains very close to the heart of the nine-time NBA All-Star, and he showed that love for OKC again on Wednesday night.
Following the Nuggets’ 116-110 win in Mile High City over the visiting Sacramento Kings, Westbrook opened up about his continuing relationship with the OKC community.

Russell Westbrook on remaining involved in the OKC community:
That placed raised me. I’m from LA to the core, but when I got there, those people believed in me. They took me in — my family, my friends. It’s home to me.
Westbrook’s last season with the Thunder was in the 2018-19 season. In the summer that followed, he was traded by Oklahoma City to the Houston Rockets, a transaction that also saw Chris Paul going to the Thunder.
In 821 games with the Thunder, the two-time NBA scoring champion averaged 23.0 points, 8.4 assists and 7.0 rebounds.
Westbrook solid in Denver Nuggets win vs. Kings

Westbrook came through for the Nuggets in the Kings game, as he finished with 25 points to lead all Denver scorers. He also had five rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks while shooting 10-for-20 from the field and 4-for-7 from deep. That was Westbrook’s most points in a game since he scored 25 points in a January win against the Brooklyn Nets.
He doesn’t shoot that efficiently most of the time this season, but he is clearly still capable of putting on a show just like old times.
