On Draymond Green’s podcast, he mentioned that Chicago Bulls legend Derrick Rose is a future hall of famer.
D-Rose has been a hot topic of conversation due to the Bulls announcing that they will retire his number in the 2025-26 season.

No other MVP in NBA history has not been inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall Of Fame, so Rose has a fairly high chance of getting in.
D-Rose is one of the greatest what-ifs in NBA history, is he truly worthy of being inducted though?
The Problem With The Hall Of Fame
The Pro Football Hall Of Fame has a very strict criteria that the Naismith Basketball Hall Of Fame should follow as well.
Players such as Randall Cunningham have a MVP, Offensive Player of the Year, Comeback Player of the Year, 3 All-Pro selections and 4 Pro Bowl selections. Unfortunately, he’s not a hall of famer.
For an NBA player, a resume such as this will be an undisputed first ballot candidate. Players like Sarunas Marciulionis have made the hall of fame and has never made a NBA All-Star team, or won any championships.
Marciulionis is an extreme example, but there are countless others who low-key should not be considered hall of fame players.
Vince Carter is one of the most electric players of all time, but he did not do enough to be in the hall. He’s only been on two All-NBA teams throughout a 22 year career and has never won any championships.
Hall of fame status in any sport should mean that the player should have an extensive resume and impact to the sport. Derrick Rose’s career sadly ended abruptly, but just one MVP, one All-NBA team selection and three All-Star appearances is not enough to be a hall of famer.
Does he deserve to get his jersey retired in Chicago? Absolutely. He revived the franchise from many down years after the Michael Jordan era. Rose led the Bulls to an Eastern Conference Finals appearance and other playoff trips.
Will He Get In?
With the way the Naismith Basketball Hall Of Fame is set up, Rose will most likely be inducted.
The committee will follow the process of every other MVP being selected and make it fair for him.
Although he is one of the biggest what-ifs in NBA history, he made a huge impact while he did play. The Naismith Basketball Hall Of Fame just makes it too easy for players to get in. It should be a stricter system to make the hall more decorated.
