The Detroit Pistons experienced riding the trains for work on Sunday as they were forced to take the subway or risk missing the game due to the traffic disruptions caused by the 2024 New York marathon.
A video of the entire Pistons team taking the train to the Barclays Center for their 3:30 pm game surfaced on social media, showing them like workers rushing to the office on a Sunday afternoon. While it was unclear why it led to this, fans assumed that with the team having a game with both the Knicks and Nets in the same week, the team’s transportation probably planned to take Brooklyn Bridge, which is unfortunately closed down due to the marathon on Sunday.
The New York Marathon, officially called the TATA Consultancy Services New York City Marathon, is an annual marathon event that courses across New York. This often comes with a lot of major road closures, forcing commuters and motorists to go on a reroute and change travel plans.
