The Detroit Pistons are already preparing for next season following their first-round series loss to the New York Knicks in the 2025 NBA playoffs.

Because of what they achieved this season, the Detroit Pistons are keen to run it back, starting by re-signing Dennis Schroder this offseason. The 31-year-old journeyman will head to unrestricted free agency after earning roughly $13 million this season.

“During Detroit’s first-round series against New York, members of the Pistons spoke well of veteran point guard Dennis Schroeder’s positive impact on the team as a veteran leader and floor general,” Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported.

“Heading into the offseason, Detroit is interested in re-signing Schroeder, league sources told HoopsHype. The Pistons have early Bird rights on him and his style of play fits Detroit well,” he added.

Detroit Pistons Rumors: Malik Beasley is keen to stay

The Detroit Pistons are also keen on re-signing Malik Beasley this offseason. The 28-year-old guard bet on himself when he signed a one-year, $6 million contract last year.

Beasley finished as a Top 3 candidate in the 2025 NBA Sixth Man of the Year award after averaging 16.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists on 43/42/68 shooting splits across 82 regular season games (18 starts), so he is expected to have numerous suitors in free agency.

“Heading into free agency, Detroit has non-Bird rights on Beasley. This means the Pistons can only offer him a maximum starting salary of $7.2 million without using cap space or the non-taxpayer mid-level exception worth $14.1 million. Thus, the more likely path for Detroit to retain Beasley, given his expected market, is for the Pistons to use cap space or the non-tax mid-level exception to sign him for more money,” Scotto wrote in his column.
