Donald Trump’s billionaire supporter and the Dallas Mavericks owner suffered a significant loss over the last few months. Miriam Adelson and her husband, Sheldon, were among the biggest contributors to Trump during his first Presidential run. The couple provided the largest donation for his campaign, but things turned out differently.

Adelson lost a lot of money after trading Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers. During the first 100 days of Trump’s office, Adelson’s family suffered a lot. Adelson wanted to build a dynasty with the Doncic trade. She was about to get a license for a casino in Long Island. However, everything turned out to be a disaster.

Vanity Fair’s Noah Shachtman recently outlined a few issues that the family faced after Donald Trump took over as President.

“In the three months or so since, Trump’s approval rating has tanked as he declared a trade war on the entire world—even on Israel, where Adelson was born, and where she remains an influential figure. Under the leadership of Adelson’s son-in-law, Patrick Dumont, the Mavericks gave away their superstar in what was instantly panned as the worst trade in NBA history.”

“The Adelsons’ family-controlled company, Las Vegas Sands, dropped its plans to build the Dallas-area gambling house for now. And now there’s New York, where Sands spent about $400 million and hired a squad of lawyers, lobbyists, architects, engineers, and image makers, all for a chance at that jackpot in Nassau County.”

The Sands President mentioned that the Adelson family will be ending their East Coast pursuit after a decade of trying.

Miriam Adelson Donated $100 Million for Donald Trump’s Second Term

Miriam Adelson played a crucial role in Trump’s second term as well. The Tel Aviv-born philanthropist played a huge part in his second-term campaign. In fact, she has backed the President in his last three general elections.

Adelson became the third biggest donor for Donald Trump in 2024. Only billionaire Elon Musk and Timothy Mellon were ahead of her. While she had did everything with good spirits, the Doncic trade was not a good idea after all.

Mavericks fans were fuming at the decision to part ways with Luka Doncic. They called out the team’s Governor and Miriam’s son-in-law for backing Nico Harrison in trading Luke Doncic. It’s been a rough ride for Donald Trump’s billionaire supporter, and everything went down after the Doncic trade.
