Minnesota Timberwolves’ Donte DiVincenzo teases his former teammate Jalen Brunson of the New York Knicks. DiVincenzo and Brunson clashed against each other for the first time after being comrades in the past season, with the former making a daring greeting at his opponent.
Donte DiVincenzo, an ex-Knicks, was traded with Julius Randle to the Timberwolves in exchange for Karl Anthony-Towns. In the recent game against his former team, he was in the starting lineup, immediately facing his friend Brunson.
While DiVincenzo was on the free throw line in a particular match segment, he heard Brunson saying something to him.

Before shooting the ball, the former Villanova Wildcat responded:
“That’s what happens when they let you run the show,” DiVincenzo said
Donte DiVincenzo never stopped taunting the Knicks. In the match’s aftermath, he even engaged in a brief dispute with Brunson’s father, Rick, and Tom Thibodeau, his former assistant and head coach.
“I was talking to Thibs,” DiVincenzo said on Rick Brunson
After an intense showdown, the Timberwolves ultimately lost against the Knicks by five points. Donte DiVincenzo played for 27 minutes, scoring 15 points, equating to six field goals, seven assists, and three rebounds.
The game, set in the Knicks’ Madison Square Garden, welcomed their former players DiVincenzo and Randle, who were a significant part of the team’s past season. The fans applauded them.
Donte DiVincenzo had his best career during his one-year stay with the Knicks, averaging 15.5 points with 44.3% field goal percentage over 81 games. He also greatly contributed to his previous team during their playoff run, averaging 17.8 points and postseason-high 1.2 steals.

Donte DiVincenzo and Brunson remain good friends despite different teams
The bond between Donte DiVincenzo and Jalen Brunson surpasses even their current NBA teams. The two, already teammates back in the Villanova Wildcats, continue to have good relationships.
Before the match against the Timberwolves and the Knicks, DiVincenzo and Brunson briefly talked with each other. The former also greeted his former teammates, such as fellow Wildcats Josh Hart and Mikal Bridges.
During the postgame interview, Donte DiVincenzo addressed his current relationship with Brunson and his reaction to his taunting with his friend’s father after the game.
“My relationship with Jalen, that’s my brother and my best friend. That’s a separate relationship. I’ll talk about that privately, and figure everything out. But it is what it is,” DiVincenzo said.
Lingering rumors expressing Donte DiVincenzo’s discontent occurred after his sudden trade to the Timberwolves. However, he clarified that he harbors no resentment over the decision and would continue to love his former team and its fans.
