Draymond Green reveals his perspective regarding his relationship with former teammate Kevin Durant. From their heated confrontations during their partnership with the GS Warriors to losing trash talks on the court, the two share honest compliments on each other as time passes.
Green’s Warriors previously clashed with Durant’s Pheonix Suns last Saturday. At the post-game interview, the latter honestly acclaimed the former, praising his performance throughout the season.
“When Draymond is at his best, it’s like a good balance between being ultra-aggressive and being on edge, and also just being a cerebral monster that he is,” Durant said.
The statement garnered Draymond Green’s attention. In an episode of his self-named podcast with Baron Davis, the Warriors forward shared his banters and trash talks with Durant when they were comrades.
“I shoot the first one on the wing and I got K in front of me and so I’m like, ‘Oh, I’m about to hit this 3 and I’m about to say something to K.’ I missed it and I like, ‘Ahhhhhh.’ So we come back down the court and so I hit the 3 and I’m like, ‘Yeah motherf***a! I ain’t missing two in a row, K.,” Green said.
“So he started laughing, so then my dumb a** go help in, they hit K in the corner, K’s seven feet, you’re not affecting him with no shot contest late. I come flying out, I get my corner contest… Bow! He like, ‘Alright now, you know I shoot that motherf***a too now!”
Nevertheless, Draymond Green enjoyed his time with Durant; he also landed compliments on his fellow power forward.
“Just having that battle, that banter was great, man. And I enjoyed the hell out of it. You say what you want about Kevin Durant, he is Kevin Durant. So I was very appreciative,” Green added.
Draymond Green and the Warriors are currently 12-8 in the standings, suffering from a five-game losing streak. Durant’s Suns share the same standing. They will clash again on December 29.
Draymond Green out vs. Rockets
The Golden State Warriors ruled out Draymond Green in the upcoming match against the Houston Rockets on Thursday due to a calf problem. It would be the second straight game Green would not be on the court.
According to ESPN, Green would undergo an MRI. Despite the issue, head coach Steve Kerr ensured his power forward is “feeling pretty good” and would not be a “super long-term issue.”
Besides Green, the Warriors will also lack Stephen Curry due to a “bilateral knee injury management.” It would be the second game Curry’s out in four games, the previous one against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Kerr will use the remaining Warriors roster as they fully stabilize Draymond Green and Curry.
