Duke basketball suffered another loss early in the 2024-25 college hoops season, with Cooper Flagg and company losing to the No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks on Tuesday in Las Vegas, 75-72.
Flagg, expected by many to be selected first overall in next year’s NBA draft, was barely a factor in the first half, where he only produced two points. But he was much better in the final 20 minutes of the contest, as he finished the game with 13 points on 5-for-9 shooting from the field. Flagg also gathered five boards and dished out three assists plus a steal.
Cooper Flagg sets new record for Duke basketball
If it was any consolation for Flagg, he set a new program history after just six games with Duke basketball with the help of his stat line in the loss to Kansas.

Cooper Flagg is the fastest player in Duke history to record:
100+ PTS
50+ REB
20+ AST
Flagg will only get better despite the defeat at the hands of Kansas. At just 17 years old, he’s already deemed ready for the pros. But for now, his main goal is to win a national title with the ACC powerhouse. Duke dropped to 4-2 after the Kansas game, but the No. 12 Blue Devils are still in good shape. They are 16th in the nation in adjusted offensive efficiency and no. 1 overall in terms of adjusted defensive efficiency.
As for Flagg, he is averaging 17.0 points, 8.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game while shooting 45.8 percent from the field.
