Elon Musk, famous billionaire and owner of social media platform X, received backlash from Phoenix Mercury guard Natasha Cloud, following the passing of a stopgap funding bill by outgoing President Joe Biden, with the aim of preventing a feared government shutdown.
Earlier this week, President Biden signed a government funding bill that “funds the government at current levels through March 14 and includes $100 billion in disaster aid and a one-year farm bill.”
Cloud took to X to discuss the issue, urging the people to tell Musk to “go back to Africa.”
“So when y’all gone tell Elon to go back to Africa?” Cloud posted. “I’m so glad ALL these billionaires have no idea how the [three] branches of government work, or how a bill gets passed into law. Shoutout to the 38 Republicans who shot the bill down in the House while being threatened & blackmailed.”
So when y’all gone tell Elon to go back to Africa?

Musk had been a vocal critic of the funding bill, calling it “one of the worst bills ever written,” and saying that the bill “should not pass.”

Absolutely, this bill should NOT pass.
A new bill that isn’t an insane crime against the American people should be done in 33 days. https://t.co/zyZVfccmUV

Is Elon Musk the United States “Prime Minister”?
Billionaire, businessman, and tech mogul Elon Musk was a major personality during the campaign period of the now-president-elect Donald Trump. He has been physically by Trump’s side for most of the campaign and continued to do so even after winning the elections. Musk has been very vocal about his support, opinions, and ideals on social media as well.
With these things considered, concerns about the real and full involvement of Musk in the incoming Trump administration have risen, with some even branding him as the “prime minister” of the United States.
In an interview with CBS, Rep. Tony Gonzales, R-Texas, called Musk the “unelected prime minister” of the US, considering his voice and presence in the recent political issues of the country.
“It’s kind of interesting,” Gonzales said. “We have a president, we have a vice president, we have a speaker. It feels like as if Elon Musk is our prime minister.”
Gonzales also highlighted how he had spoken with Musk multiple times during the “chaotic week” as the House GOP discussed the then-proposed government funding bill.
“Well, unelected, but, I mean, he has a voice, and I think a lot of —a large part of that voice is a reflection of the voice of the people,” Gonzales added.
Donald Trump had shut down any concerns about Elon Musk and his growing political presence, with Trump saying his presidency is safe simply because Musk “wasn’t born in this country.”
