Another week, another round of Jimmy Butler trade rumors. The Miami Heat forward, who had been playing for the team since 2019, had been a constant name in the rumor mill lately, with reports varying from him leaving the team, to the Heat looking to trade him out, to several teams looking to acquire him from the Heat.
Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra, in a recent interview, shut down long-running rumors of a Jimmy Butler trade, calling reports of such nature “gibberish.” He even cited how one Heat player has been rumored to be part of a trade deal, but still pays for the team to this day.
“It’s been our best, most consistent stretch of the season,” coach Spo said. “So anything else, any other narrative, I don’t care. Nobody should, because most of this stuff has just been all like a bunch of gibberish.”
Coach Spo also talked about how one of their players, Tyler Herro, had been the constant subject of trade rumors throughout the years. However, Herro has stayed with the Heat since he got drafted in 2019. He compared how Herro had been in the same situation as Butler right now, but no real trade happened despite many rumors,
“I didn’t mention anything, just like I didn’t before (with Tyler Herro),” the coach said. “I think the biggest message is that fact that we’re 3-0 right now, this past week, and the player that was rumored in so many trades and speculations the last three years – it seemed like every week – that player is still here and is Player of the Week. So that’s really the only thing I’m thinking about.”
The Miami Heat currently stands fifth in the Eastern Conference, with a record of 12 wins and 10 losses.
Miami Heat “listening” to Jimmy Butler Offers
Jimmy Butler may be making his way to the Western Conference if recent trade rumors are to be believed. Per NBA insider and ESPN reporter Shams Charania, the Miami Heat is “listening” to offers for Butler, with his agent Bernie Lee allegedly in talks with other teams for a potential deal.
According to Charania, Jimmy Butler’s agent Lee has spread word in the league that Butler is open to moving to the West. His top choices included the Houston Rockets, the Dallas Mavericks, and the Golden State Warriors.
So far this season, Jimmy Butler is averaging 19 points per game, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.8 assists. He makes 55.7% of his field shots and 18.8% of shots from beyond the arc.
