Former NBA player Patrick Beverley did not hold back in his criticism of the Los Angeles Lakers fans. According to Beverley, the fans of the organization bring down the value of the team’s players whenever they lambaste them online whenever they play terribly.
His statement about the fanbase of the Los Angeles team came after the front office traded point guard D’Angelo Russell to the Nets for Dorian Finney-Smith and Shake Milton. Russell’s role was diminished after a series of poor shooting performances, leading to him getting demoted to a bench role.
On Wednesday, Beverley posted a new episode of his shot “The Pat Bev Pod,” where he didn’t hold back his thoughts regarding the Lakers fans.
“They talk so bad about their players that they actually decrease their value,” Beverley said. “So now, when trade comes…ain’t nobody just giving you s—.”
“No one’s trying to help the Los Angeles Lakers,” he said. “… We know you guys want this guy — he’s a second-rounder for every other team — but to the Lakers, he’s two first rounds. F— it. … But when you have a fan base that — a guy shoots bad — everyone goes on Twitter. Everybody sees everything. I don’t give a f— what type of player you is. Everyone goes on Twitter. And they crush guys. They decrease their value.”
During the 2022–2023 NBA season, Beverley is aware of the way the team’s supporters treat its players. However, he wasn’t the player who received a ton of flak for how he played for Los Angeles. The fans often targetted nine-time All-Star Russell Westbrook whenever he had a terrible shooting night.
Beverley clapped back at a Lakers fan for his take on the Russell trade
Russell is beginning anew after being transferred by the Lakers before the year-end. Beverley was one of the former players who thought it was a good refresher for the one-time All-Star to return to the Nets.
“dlo to Nets is good for him and the team. nets will be able to compete still. and he gets to hoop. @PatBevPod Finney-Smith to Lakers idk about that tho,” Beverley posted.

A fan replied and told the former NBA player that his take sounded like hate toward the organization. Beverley backed up his claim and blamed the fans for often criticizing the players who were not performing to their standard.
“and if we’re being honest the moment he doesn’t shoot well lakers fans go destroy him,” Beverley replied. “Russ, beaZ, TP it’s yal on twitter that be killing players so don’t get mad.”
