On April 2nd, 2025, NBA legend Carmelo Anthony was informed that he would be entering the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame as part of the 2025 class. Anthony has been a standout freshman and NCAA Champion with the Syracuse Orange, a perennial NBA All-Star with multiple different teams, and one of the best scorers in NBA history. After last playing in 2022, Melo will now take his much-deserved place in the Hall of Fame.
Carmelo Anthony Set to Enter Basketball Hall of Fame
Carmelo Anthony has a resume that few basketball players in history can match. Born in New York City and raised in Baltimore, Anthony was a standout player in high school and enrolled at Syracuse University, where he would be coached by the legendary Jim Boeheim. Anthony proceeded to put together one of the greatest freshman seasons of anyone in college basketball history, averaging over 22 points per game and taking his team to March Madness glory, capturing Syracuse’s first ever NCAA Championship.
His son Kiyan Anthony is set to don the same uniform as his father. Next season, Kiyan will be looking to revive the Syracuse program and have a historic freshman campaign.

Drafted by the Denver Nuggets in the historically talented 2003 NBA Draft, Anthony averaged almost 25 a game during his time in the Mile High City before heading home to the east coast, suiting up for the New York Knicks. Anthony is one of the greatest Knicks of modern day, and his accomplishments include six straight All-Star accolades, back-to-back All-NBA selections, and three 50-point games in addition to scoring 62 in one night against Charlotte.
After spending his last seasons in Oklahoma City, Houston, Portland, and Los Angeles, Anthony retired in 2022 as the 9th all-time scorer in NBA history. In addition to his NBA accomplishments, Anthony has three gold medals from his time with Team USA, where he is currently the 3rd all-time leading scorer.
