Russell Westbrook and the Denver Nuggets are not having a terrific start to their 2024-25 NBA campaign. They are still winless after two games, as they lost to the Oklahoma City Thunder last Thursday, 102-87, and to the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday, 109-104. That is despite the fact the strong play from superstar big man Nikola Jokic.
One reason behind the slow start of the Nuggets is the subpar play of the players around Jokic, and that includes Westbrook, who’s just been absolutely atrocious with his shooting from the field. After scoring just six points on a horrid 2-for-10 shooting in the Thunder game, Westbrook somehow produced worse shooting splits against the Clippers.
Against the Clippers, Westbrook, who signed a one-year deal worth $6.77 million with the Nuggets over the summer, missed all of his eight attempts from the field, including three from behind the arc, His only points came from the free-throw line.
Perhaps a change in scenery will help Westbrook find his shooting touch. After playing their first two games of the season both at home, the Nuggets will begin a three-game road trip this Monday versus the Toronto Raptors.
