Flau’jae Johnson lit up the 2025 BET Awards red carpet in a stunning wine-red high-low gown — but the night wasn’t just about glamor. It was a full family affair, as the LSU star was joined by her mother, Kia Brooks, and brother Tray Milz.
On Thursday, Brooks shared a behind-the-scenes Instagram video of the family prepping for the big night, using the moment to drop some wisdom from her experience as both a mom and a manager.
“The secret to avoiding last minute chaos? Being 1.5 hours early, trust me, I’ve been there as a manager,” she captioned. “We faced some wardrobe snags, but my team still delivered and that’s what I’m most proud of… They almost missed the BET red carpet, but I have raised some industry savages.”
Johnson, known for balancing basketball and music like a pro, looked effortlessly elegant, while her brother Tray kept it sleek in a black suit. Another video from Kia earlier in the week showed Tray gently adjusting Flau’jae’s gown during a photoshoot, showing just how tight-knit the family really is.

Even though Flau’jae has three brothers and different fathers are involved, Kia has always emphasized the unshakable bond among her children. Tray, born Trayron Milton, is the most recognizable of her siblings thanks to his own music career — but also made headlines for the wrong reasons when he stormed the court during LSU’s SEC title game loss to South Carolina earlier this year. He was briefly arrested but later released on bond.

Despite the spotlight — and the occasional turbulence — family remains Flau’jae’s grounding force. From the basketball court to the studio, they’re her constant.
“We’re Not Friends”: Flau’jae Johnson Reflects on Relationship with Angel Reese
While she continues to shine at LSU, Flau’jae Johnson recently opened up about the state of her relationship with former teammate Angel Reese, now with the WNBA’s Chicago Sky.
“We’re not friends, but that bond we had—that thing we did together, winning a national championship—you can never take that away from us,” Johnson said on The Breakfast Club.

Reese has moved on to the pros, but Flau’jae chose to return for another NCAA season, saying she needs more time to refine her game. Through it all, one thing remains clear: growth and family are her priorities.
