California governor Gavin Newsom got an honest reaction from analyst and broadcaster Stephen A. Smith over his recent controversial statement on the topic of transgender athletes and sports.
In one of his videos, Stephen A. Smith blasted California governor Gavin Newsom over his recent statement on the “unfair” trend with transgender athletes and their participation in sports.
“Bravo I’m so very touched Gavin Newsom, governor of California, that you would say that,” Smiths said. “Why didn’t you add that you were the one doing it? Because that’s exactly what the hell you were doing when you talked about the right when you talked about conservatives when you talked about conservative folks out there and what their principles were and how they may not have been for transgender athletes competing in sports.
“How they may not have been for you know for open borders how they may not have been for Sanctuary cities. Didn’t you question their humanity in a roundabout way at the very least? Weren’t you one of the voice boxes out there saying that stuff?”
Gavin Newsom recently stirred controversy during his podcast, This is Gavin Newsom, where he discussed transgender issues with conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
Newsom, a long-time advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, surprised many by aligning with Kirk on the topic of transgender athletes in women’s sports. He described the situation as “deeply unfair” and agreed with Kirk’s stance, calling it an issue of fairness.

Gavin Newsom Admits Democrats Have Been Toxic
California Governor Gavin Newsom recently described the Democratic Party’s brand as “toxic” during an interview with Bill Maher. He criticized the party for being overly judgmental and unwilling to engage in conversations with Republicans, which he believes has contributed to its declining favorability ratings.
“These guys are crushing us. The Democratic brand is toxic right now,” Newsom said on “Real Time With Bill Maher. Democrats, we tend to be a little more judgmental than we should be — this notion of cancel culture.”

Newsom pointed to polling data showing the Democratic Party’s approval at a record low of 27%, emphasizing the need for Democrats to “own their mistakes” and move beyond cancel culture.
“We need to own our mistakes,” the governor added. “We need to own what’s wrong with our party.”

There have been ongoing rumors about Gavin Newsom running for president, particularly as speculation grows about the 2028 election. While Newsom has repeatedly denied any intention to challenge President Joe Biden for re-election in 2024, political analysts believe it’s “not a question of if, but when” he will run.
