Giannis Antetokounmpo is having a sneaky-good season for the Milwaukee Bucks. He made the 2025 All-Star game, but he’s not considered a serious contender for the NBA MVP award.
At 30, Giannis is second in the Association for points per game (30.8) and fifth-best in defensive rebounds at 12.1 rebounds per game, helping the Bucks to an Eastern Conference fourth-best record at 36-25.
Is Giannis Antetokounmpo getting enough credit?

Milwaukee head coach Doc Rivers argued that Giannis is not getting his fair share of credit from the media and the NBA for what he’s doing this season.
Giannis’ numbers, it’s almost like he’s a forgotten great player in the league,” Rivers said via ESPN Milwaukee. “Like, you know, I hear about everybody else, and I don’t hear enough about what Giannis is doing, the year he’s having. He’s having a career year this year, and it’s in some ways, at least, I feel like it’s going unnoticed.
“I mean you can put his numbers up against anybody in the league this year. You really can. Then when you factor in that he plays on both sides of the ball as well. To me, he just, he’s playing ground ball today. He does it every day. same thing. And I think at times we do take it for granted, and we really shouldn’t.

The Milwaukee Bucks appreciate their star

Giannis scored his 20,000th point in the Bucks’ 137-107 win over the Dallas Mavericks in front of 17,341 fans at Fiserv Forum on Wednesday. He scored 32 points and added 15 rebounds and four assists.
Giannis is not forgotten in Milwaukee, where he won the NBA Finals in 2021 and the NBA Cup in 2024. He might receive more publicity in a bigger market. But his stats and play have been phenomenal this season.
