LeBron James’ retirement rumors have been going around for quite a while, especially with the legend turning 40 this year. James has two more years left in his current deal with the Los Angeles Lakers and is expected to pull through until the end. However, numerous players and sports experts have dropped their two cents.
Former basketball player Gilbert Arenas has shed some additional light on the topic in his show “Gil’s Arena.” In the most recent episode, Arenas pointed out that James’ career is most likely to last just two more seasons and that the player will stop b-balling officially in 2026.
“2026, man, he gone,” Arenas said. “He outta here, man. Y’all can kiss my a**, Ohio style. Look at him. At this point, what am I really proving?”His son [Bronny], Bryce coming. If I can play with both, that’d be great. But right now, as of today, I think something’s been fulfilled that he never saw coming, no player seen coming and no players has actually had, that he gets to be with his son 365 days because they’re on the same team.”

LeBron James’ son, Bronny James, has started his own basketball career on a positive note, and is now playing for the G-League. Not only Bronny, but even James’ second son, Bryce, has made great strides on the court. After seeing LeBron and Bronny play together in the NBA for a short but sweet while, fans eagerly hope to see Bryce join his dad on the court.
Bryce James is expected to get into the NBA draft in 2026, and according to Arenas, the big man might just wait for this moment before he retires. LeBron James and Bronny James made history quite freshly in being the first father-son duo to play together in the same team in the same game.
Stephen A. Smith And Shannon Sharpe Debate LeBron James’ GOAT Title
The debate about who is the greatest player of all time in basketball is never-ending, with two great contenders being Michael Jordan and LeBron James. Basketball fans love to debate this topic, even if it is bound to continue. Sports journalist Stephen A. Smith and former NFL star Shannon Sharpe recently got into a heated debate on this.
Smith seems to agree that Michael Jordan should be given the official GOAT title. Smith also mentioned that it is still quite unbelievable that LeBron James plays the way he does at his age, which is quite a feat. However, the often-criticized TV personality sticks to his guns that there is no better basketball player than Michael Jordan.
“My sense is next season could potentially be his last season in the NBA. … Maybe Bryce James keeps him around an extra year or two.”
