Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Giannis Antetokounmpo are becoming NBA superstars as they lead the 2024-25 season with the highest average points per game.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is in his 12th season with the NBA, drafted in 2013 by the Milwaukee Bucks, who he still plays for today as a power forward.

Antetokounmpo won an NBA Championship in the 2020-21 season and was named Most Valuable Player in the same season.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is in his 7th season, starting in 2018 with the Los Angeles Clippers, where he only stayed for one year before moving to his current team the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Gilgeous-Alexander has been a part of three All-Star games (2023 to 2025) but is yet to be named MVP or hold an NBA Championship win.

Antetokounmpo has played a total of 833 games in his NBA career and has put in 19,804 points, 8,231 rebounds, and 4,096 assists in 12 years.
What does this Mean for Gilgeous-Alexander and Antetokoumpo?
Antetokoumpo has been with the NBA five more years than Gilgeous-Alexander and leads over him in totals and NBA honors/awards. But that does not take away from Gilgeous-Alexander’s fast rise.
