Golden State Warriors fans watched the Olympics to watch Stephen Curry captivate the world with his play. The way he took over for Team USA during the final two games of the men’s basketball event reminded everyone why he’s become one of the most undisputed players in the league today.
However, the Warriors front office looked at the Games with a different focus. They were assessing whether there were players in the competition they can add to their roster to help them win their fifth title in eleven seasons. With Curry being linked to a move away from the Dubs, the front office needs to find the best players available to support him in his quest for Ring #5.
They seem to have found someone as they’re being linked to a former NBA player who played great basketball in Paris.
Bruno Caboclo hopes to win an NBA contract as he works out with the Golden State Warriors
Hoops fans who have watched the NBA in the past ten years will be familiar with Bruno Caboclo. He was a part of a Toronto Raptors squad that struggled to get past LeBron James, but his most productive years were with the Memphis Grizzlies.
While he’s been out of the league for a while now, his performance in the Olympics scored him a workout with the Warriors. His agent reveals that he hopes to score a contract with the Dubs.
Former NBA forward Bruno Caboclo is working out with the Warriors as he continues to seek a new opportunity in the league, agent Daniel Hazan told Sports Channel in Israel (hat tip to BasketNews.com).
“He will train with the Golden State Warriors until Thursday with the aim of signing a contract, and he believes he will succeed,” Hazan said of his client.
Caboclo averaged 8.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 0.4 assists, 0.6 steals, and 0.9 blocks in four Olympic games. He especially stood out in Brazil’s quarterfinal loss to the United States, where he finished with an impressive stat line of 30 points, six rebounds, one assist, a steal, and a block.
It remains to be seen if he’ll actually be getting a contract with the Dubs, but he’s making an NBA return a priority before possibly joining Patrick Beverley in Tel Aviv.
