Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green recently emerged as the betting favorite for the 2024-25 NBA Defensive Player of the Year award.

According to the latest odds provided by Fox Sports, Green is a -165 favorite to take home the trophy, surpassing Evan Mobley, who is now at +150. Dyson Daniels is third on the list at +1600. Luguentz Dort and Jaren Jackson Jr. round out the Top 5 at +3000 and +3500.
With Victor Wembanyama sidelined by a blood clot diagnosis, the Defensive Player of the Year race has been somewhat wide open towards the end of the 2024-25 season.

Green first won the prestigious award in 2017 after playing a pivotal role in the Golden State Warriors championship run, their first with Kevin Durant. The 35-year-old last made the NBA All-Defensive Team in 2023.
Golden State Warriors’ Draymond Green should not win DPOY, per Memphis Grizzlies legend
Draymond Green recently made his DPOY case after a stellar performance in the Golden State Warriors-Milwaukee Bucks match. However, while Green is in the running, former Memphis Grizzlies guard Tony Allen believes Dyson Daniels should win it this year.

“Dray my boy too, and he locks stuff up, and he do a lot of stuff on the court, man,” Allen said on the Run It Back podcast. “He get everybody in the right place, being on the backside of the defense. But I wouldn’t have him as my favorite. My favorite is the guy from Atlanta.”
Golden State are on a two-game losing streak after conceding 124 and 112 points against the Atlanta Hawks and Miami Heat. They will aim to bounce back against the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday.
