Even though he achieved lot during his run with the Golden State Warriors, there are some who still question All-Star forward Kevin Durant‘s time in the Bay. Turns out, former NFL star Keyshawn Johnson is among those who doubt him, leading the Phoenix Suns star to fire back at him.
After being selected secnd overall by the Seattle Supersonics in the 2007 NBA Draft, he spent the first nine seasons of his career with the Supersonics and Oklahoma City Thunder, emerging as one of the league’s elite players.
In 2016, Durant joined the Warriors, where he won back-to-back NBA championships in 2017 and 2018, earning Finals MVP honors both times. During his three-year tenure with the Warriors, Durant continued to solidify his status as one of the all-time great players, making the All-NBA First Team in 2018 and earning selection to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team.
After leaving the Warriors in 2019, Durant joined the Brooklyn Nets, where he missed the entire 2019-20 season due to injury. He returned to action in 2020-21 and led the Nets to the playoffs, though they were ultimately eliminated. In 2022-23, Durant requested a trade from the Nets and was subsequently dealt to the Phoenix Suns, where he continues to be one of the league’s most dominant players.
Kevin Durant Claps Back at Keyshawn Johnson’s Comments About His Golden State Warriors Run
Over the years, Durant has endured a lot of criticism about his time as a Warrior. The latest comes from former NFL star Keyshawn Johnson in a video that the Suns star reacted to on his official X account.
“If the jets would’ve took Jonathan Ogden, Marvin Harrison, ray lewis or Eddie George number 1 they would’ve been better off……I hate comparisons,” Durant tweeted.
“If I put Paul Pierce on the Golden State Warriors with Klay Thompson and Draymond and Steph Curry, you don’t think he could do the same sh*t?”

Over the course of his three-year stint with the Warriors, Durant averaged 25.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 5.4 assists. He won two championships and two Finals MVPs during his time in the Bay.
Although a lot of questions have been raised about his run with Golden State, there’s no denying the results his stay there produced. In any case, expect Durant to not hold his tongue back in circumstances like these, especially comments posted online.
