Golden State Warriors news: Team USA nearly suffered an embarrassing loss on Sunday after South Sudan pushed them to the very edge. Ultimately, it was the Americans who prevailed, 101-100, but it was far from a convincing performance from a heavily favored Team USA squad.
National team head coach Steve Kerr got brutally honest in his post-game interview. According to the four-time NBA champion shot-caller, there’s no one else to blame for this close win than him.
Golden State Warriors News: Steve Kerr Takes Blame for Tough Win

Kerr kept his response simple as he was questioned by reporters after the game. The Warriors coach made it abundantly clear that if anyone has to be blamed for this near-disaster, it has to be him.
“I did not do a great job preparing our team,” Kerr said, (h/t Legion Hoops on X, formerly Twitter) “… We did not focus enough on what they’re capable of, and that’s on me.”
This is exactly the type of response you’d expect from the veteran coach, who isn’t the type who would throw any of his players under the bus. Instead, he’s taken full responsibility for what could have been a catastrophic loss for the Americans.

As they always say, a win is a win. However, this victory adds a bit of nerves — at least for the fans — heading into Team USA’s quest for a gold medal in the upcoming Olympics in Paris. The Americans are still the overwhelming favorites to win it all, but games like these just add a little bit of doubt to their absolute dominance.
