This offseason free agency will see if Warriors Klay Thompson stays with the Warriors for the upcoming season. Head Coach Steve Kerr certainly wants Thompson to play for Golden State. Kerr explained “We want Klay back desperately, I want him back desperately, and we’ll have our conversations, and he’s gotta make whatever decision he makes. Yeah, we really want him back, he’s Klay Thompson,” he emphasized.
However, with Golden State possibly maybe acquiring Paul George might give Klay Thompson to stay in San Francisco with the Warriors. The decision from George and the Warriors might be done by this weekend , time will tell.
Golden State Warriors Going after Paul George in Trade Deal
Paul George has played with the Indian Pacer (2010-17), Oklahoma City Thunder (2017-2019) and the Los Angeles Clippers (2019-present). His season stats for the 2023-24 season he averaged 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists and was 47.1% from FG%. The Clippers were eliminated by the Dallas Mavericks this season in Game 6.
The Golden State Warriors have not made the playoff since the 2022-2023 NBA season. They had an opportunity to make it for the 2023-24 season when they were in the play-in tournament against the Sacramento Kings. The Warriors have had their struggles through the last couple of seasons. The last time the Warriors were in the NBA Finals was 2022 when they defeated the Boston Celtics in the 4-2 series.
Golden State Warriors Looking To Improve For This Season
Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors are wanting to get back to their winning ways. They dominated the NBA for a period of time. They won Championships in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022. The Warriors are the third for most NBA Championships and most Finals appearances. The LA Lakers and Boston Celtics have more.
Adding PG13 would be great depth for the Warriors. If the money and contract are suitable for both sides for PG13 and the Warriors a deal can be made as soon as maybe this upcoming weekend. There are other potential teams out there that are interested in George but it seems he wants to stay on the West Coast versus the East Coast.
