The Golden State Warriors will look to bolster their depth by sending a training camp invite to Davis Bertans, per his agent Arturs Kalnitis.
“Davis Bertans will prepare for the upcoming season with the Golden State Warriors. Good luck in the Bay Area, DB,” he wrote on his Instagram story.
Renowned NBA insider Marc Stein further revealed that Davis Bertans has been given a chance to fight for a roster spot with the Golden State Warriors, similar to what Rudy Gay went through last summer.
Davis Bertans had a $16 million salary for 2024-25, but only $5.25 million was guaranteed before the Charlotte Hornets waived him. The 31-year-old sharpshooter was part of the Gordon Hayward trade midway through last season and averaged 8.8 points on 39/38/89 shooting splits in 28 games.
A former No. 42 overall pick, Davis Bertans has been in the league since 2016, averaging 7.7 points and 2.4 rebounds while shooting 39.6 percent from three-point land in 475 regular season games.
Do the Golden State Warriors need Davis Bertans?
Adding an elite three-point shooter is never a bad idea, especially for the Golden State Warriors, who are looking to improve their offensive firepower following the departure of Klay Thompson.
If they ultimately sign Davis Bertans, the Golden State Warriors will have to let go of one of their current players, and they will likely have him on a minimum contract, given their complex salary cap situation.
The Golden State Warriors added Kyle Anderson, Buddy Hield, De’Anthony Melton, and Lindy Waters III via separate deals earlier this offseason.
