Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry knows that playing in the NBA is not forever, so he is already planning his life after professional basketball.
In a recent interview with CNBC, the four-time NBA champion spoke about his interest in owning an NBA team one day but clarified that he still has more to offer on the basketball court.
“For me, that’s definitely on the table,” said Curry. “I think I could do a pretty good job of helping sustain how great the NBA is right now and what it takes to run a championship organization.”
“I know I have a lot more to accomplish on the court before I move into other roles in the league,” he added.
Stephen Curry recently agreed to a one-year, $62.6 million extension to prolong his stay with the Golden State Warriors for three more years. He’ll be 39 once his contract runs out.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said in July that the league would explore the idea of expansion after its media deal was completed. With that said, one can’t help but think about the possibility of seeing Stephen Curry and LeBron James team up again, this time as team owners.
Stephen Curry still has a lot in his tank for the Golden State Warriors
Stephen Curry is coming off yet another solid campaign, averaging 26.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.1 assists on 45/41/92 shooting clips in 74 regular season games. The two-time NBA MVP also won the 2023-24 NBA Clutch Player of the Year award.
Unfortunately for him, Curry couldn’t singlehandedly carry the Golden State Warriors to the playoffs, as they lost to the Sacramento Kings during the play-in tournament.
The Golden State Warriors have been fairly busy this offseason, adding Buddy Hield, Kyle Anderson, De’Anthony Melton, and Lindy Waters III to try and make up for the departure of Klay Thompson to Dallas.
