As much as this pains Golden State Warriors fans everywhere, it is now all but official. Klay Thompson has already played his final game for the Dubs and the four-time NBA champ is now headed out of the Bay Area.
It was confirmed on Sunday night that Thompson has decided to leave the Warriors after four memorable championships with the team as he now looks to take his talents elsewhere.
Golden State Warriors News: Klay Thompson is Out

NBA guru Shams Charania confirmed the news on Sunday, noting that Thompson’s route out of Golden State will be via a sign-and-trade deal:
“After 13 iconic seasons together, sources say Klay Thompson is departing the Warriors and the sides will begin to work through sign-and-trade options,” Shams reported, via X, formerly Twitter.
This is the end of an era. Things are expected to develop quickly too, and it would not be a surprise if Thompson’s new team is announced as early as Monday morning or even Sunday evening.

Philadelphia 76ers Emerge as Potential Landing Spot

The Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, and Los Angeles Clippers were the three teams that were initially listed as likely landing spots for Thompson. A fourth team has been added into the mix, with the Philadelphia 76ers now emerging as a fourth team in what is now looking like a Klay free-agency sweepstakes. This report comes via Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN:
“Klay Thompson plans to have discussions with the Mavericks, Lakers, Clippers and 76ers in the opening hours of free agency, sources tell ESPN,” Woj wrote.
Paul George still remains priority No. 1 for the Sixers, but it appears that they are covering their bases as well should that high-profile pursuit fall through.
