The Golden State Warriors continue to make moves in the post-Klay Thompson era. On Tuesday night, reports emerged that the Dubs have agreed to sign another player via free agency — it’s just not the big name Warriors fans have been desperately hoping for.
Instead, Golden State has reportedly agreed to a sign-and-trade deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves for veteran forward Kyle Anderson.
Golden State Warriors to Sign Kyle Anderson
ESPN’s senior NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news on Tuesday evening:
“Free agent F Kyle Anderson is planning to sign a three-year, $27 million deal with the Golden State Warriors, sources tell ESPN. He’ll land with Warriors on a sign-and-trade with Minnesota,” Woj reported on X, formerly Twitter.
In a subsequent tweet, Woj revealed that Minnesota will be receiving a future pick swap and cash considerations as part of the deal:
“Golden State is sending Minnesota a future second-round pick swap and cash in the sign-and-trade, sources tell ESPN,” Woj wrote.
Last season, in his second year with the Wolves, Anderson averaged 6.4 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists in 22.6 minutes off the bench.
Anderson’s arrival comes a day after the Warriors agreed to sign De’Anthony Melton via free agency. Golden State have added a couple of fresh faces to their roster already but they have not exactly made a splash just yet — at least with regard to the big-name signing the fans have been clamoring for amid Thompson’s end-of-an-era exit.
