The Golden State Warriors have been making moves. This only makes sense after losing Klay Thompson and Chris Paul in free agency.
On Tuesday, the Warriors added De’Anthony Melton, followed by the arrival of Kyle Anderson on Wednesday. Just now, it was reported that the Dubs are on the verge of agreeing a sign-and-trade deal for Buddy Hield.
Despite the trio of new recruits, it appears that the Warriors aren’t done just yet.
Golden State Warriors News: Lauri Markkanen is No. 1 Target
It was previously reported that the Dubs have decided to zero in on Utah Jazz star Lauri Markkanen after their failed pursuit of Paul George. According to Dubs insider Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area, Golden State is now “all in” on getting their hands on the All-Star big man:
“Based on what I’ve heard, the Warriors number one target is now Lauri Markkanen,” Poole said (h/t NBACentral on X, formerly Twitter).
The Buddy Hield sign-and-trade is a new development and it is unclear what assets the Warriors will need to part ways with in order to finalize this deal. Moreover, it remains to be seen if this acquisition will impact Golden State’s pursuit of Markkannen.
Either way, you can be sure that the Jazz will be looking for a major haul in exchange for their prized big man. Whether or not the Warriors have the necessary assets to make a potential swap work is also uncertain at this point.
