Notre Dame Fighting Irish point guard Hannah Hidalgo and the entire team fell short against the Florida State Seminoles, and head coach Niele Ivey took responsibility and promised to work on issues that hindered the team from performing well.
In a post-game interview, Notre Dame Fighting Irish head coach Niele Ivey apologized to the fans and took the blame for their recent loss against Florida State, and in particular, the recent performance of Hannah Hidalgo that fell short compared to her usual expectations.
“I always feel like senior nights are supposed to be an opportunity to honor our seniors,” Ivey said. “I talked about that right when I walked into the locker room. Just grateful for the fans to come out. Was a very disappointing performance. We got to get back to work.”
“Just trying to get her to the next play. Watching film after games,” Niele Ivey said of Hidalgo’s shooting slump. “She’s a high-level scorer, so sometimes with those types of scorers, they kind of shoot their way back in the game. But they just weren’t falling for her tonight.”

Hannah Hidalgo Fails to Carry Notre Dame Against Florida State
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish recently suffered a tough 86-81 loss to the Florida State Seminoles. The game was marked by Notre Dame’s struggles in the second half, where Florida State outscored them 30-17 in the second quarter to take a 44-40 halftime lead.
Despite a strong start, Notre Dame couldn’t maintain their momentum, allowing Florida State to pull ahead and secure the victory.

In particular, point guard Hannah Hidalgo had a challenging game. She scored 16 points, grabbed five rebounds, and recorded three steals. However, Hidalgo struggled with her shooting, making only 4 of 18 shots from the field and missing both of her three-point attempts.
Her shooting woes were particularly evident in the third quarter, where she failed to score any points, contributing to Notre Dame’s deficit.
Despite her efforts, Hidalgo’s performance fell short of her usual standards, and Notre Dame couldn’t overcome Florida State’s strong play. The loss marked Notre Dame’s second consecutive defeat, putting them in a tie with NC State for the ACC lead.

So far this season, Hannah Hidalgo is averaging 24.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game. Her shooting efficiency has been impressive, with a field goal percentage of 46.5%. Hidalgo has also been effective from beyond the arc, shooting 39.3% from three-point range.
