Hannah Hidalgo, Notre Dame Fighting Irish guard, recently revealed the reason as to why she originally chose to play for the team, despite getting offers for numerous other universities like Ohio State, Stanford and even Duke. In the ‘Next Generation’ series by NCAA, Hidalgo went on to explain that Notre Dame is perfect for her in every way, even going to admit that the basketball program at the university is ‘for guards’.
Hannah Hidalgo has been playing for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish since 2023, after playing high school basketball for Paul VI in New Jersey. Hidalgo easily became an integral part of the Fighting Irish, and was recently named ACC Player of the Year. She has also represented the USA Team on an international level, winning the gold medal in the FIBA U19 World Cup in Spain and before winning gold in the FIBA U17 World Cup in Hungary.
“Notre Dame checked off most of the boxes of exactly what I want. That’s a family, a good player-coach relationship. This is a university for guards, and just kind of being a part of that legacy and to think that my name will be up in the rafters somewhere in my jersey.” Hannah Hidalgo said on ‘Next Generation’.
